I See Dallas Tour Company Introduces First-Ever Independent Bookstore Tour
DALLAS, TX – March, 25, 2006 – Turning the page on traditional weekend outings, I See Dallas Tour Company is launching guided bookstore tours for small groups in April 2026.
During the tour, eleven book lovers will enjoy a guided exploration of some of the most beloved independent bookstores in Dallas. The tour also includes a stop at the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library, the main library of the Dallas Public Library, where guests will see treasures from the DPL collection, including a rare copy of Shakespeare’s First Folio from the 1600s and a copy of the Declaration of Independence from 1776.
The chauffeured tour will stop at least five bookstores and include a break for lunch. Book lovers can focus on exploring the Dallas literary scene bookstore by bookstore while I See Dallas handles the driving, parking, and planning.
“The Dallas independent bookstore scene is booming, and we wanted to showcase it while giving our guests a chance to meet other book lovers,” says Cari Weinberg, co-owner of I See Dallas.
“I love the smell of a good bookstore,” adds co-owner Mark Roberts. “Books, coffee, and baked goods all together; I would wear that as a cologne. The only downside for me is I drive and stay with the vehicle, so I do not get to go into every place we stop.”
According to the American Booksellers Association, independent bookstores across the country have increased by 70 percent since 2020. In the Dallas area, new stores are opening that serve various neighborhoods and specialty interests, including romance, science fiction, and poetry.
